Senior Citizens' Centers Open For Those Without Power
(December 19, 2009) Letcher County Judge-Executive Jim Ward has opened the following Senior Citizens' Centers as emergency shelters for those without power. Back-up generators and auxiliary heaters are in place to provide warmth to those in need. It is suggested that residents bring blankets, pillows and any food items they may desire.

The Linefork-Kingdom Come Chestnut Festival
A celebration of the return of the American Chestnut Tree.
Saturday October 17, 2009 starting at 10 a.m. at the former Kingdom Come Settlement School (Linefork, Letcher County, KY)
Bluegrass music starts at 5 p.m. and features top local bands and a jam session.
Plus workshops on bringing the Chestnut back to Appalachia, a guided tour of Lilly Cornett Woods (old growth forest) and plenty of home cooking.
Linefork is located between Whitesburg and Kingdom Come State Park 16040 Highway 160
